1 O Lord, the cGod of my salvation,
I have dcried out by day and in the night before You.
2Let my prayer ecome before You;
fIncline Your ear to my cry!
3For my gsoul has
Or been satisfied with
had enough troubles,
And imy life has drawn near to
I.e. the nether world
Sheol.
4I am reckoned among those who kgo down to the pit;
I have become like a man lwithout strength,
5
Lit A freed one among the dead
Forsaken namong the dead,
Like the slain who lie in the grave,
Whom You remember no more,
And they are ocut off from Your hand.
6You have put me in pthe lowest pit,
In qdark places, in the rdepths.
7Your wrath shas rested upon me,
And You have afflicted me with tall Your waves.
Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude
Selah.
8You have removed vmy acquaintances far from me;
You have made me an
Lit abomination to them
,
xobject of loathing to them;
I am yshut up and cannot go out.
9My zeye has wasted away because of affliction;
I have aacalled upon You every day, O Lord;
I have abspread out my
Lit palms
hands to You.

10Will You perform wonders for the dead?
Will adthe
Or ghosts, shades
departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah.
11Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave,
Your faithfulness in
I.e. place of destruction
Abaddon?
12Will Your wonders be made known in the agdarkness?
And Your
I.e. faithfulness to His gracious promises
righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13But I, O Lord, have cried out aito You for help,
And ajin the morning my prayer comes before You.
14O Lord, why akdo You reject my soul?
Why do You alhide Your face from me?
15I was afflicted and amabout to die from my youth on;
I suffer anYour terrors; I am
Or embarrassed
overcome.
16Your apburning anger has passed over me;
Your terrors have
Or silenced
,
ardestroyed me.
17They have assurrounded me atlike water all day long;
They have auencompassed me altogether.
18You have removed avlover and friend far from me;
My acquaintances are in darkness.
